Question Turn signal

I have just purchased a used 1997 XLT. I noticed that when you push down on the left turn signal it make a horrible buzzing sound, but if you are careful and push down very slowly it works and doesn't make the noise. Any ideas of what the problem is and how to fix?

sounds like a bad multi function switch to me. have run in to that problem a few times and always turned out to be a bad multi function switch.hope this helps
