Just Installed AEM Short Ram...
Now. I am a newbie, and I just finished installing AEM short ram in my 97 Lude. I see this hose that was detached from the stock air box, vaccuum hose I am presuming. What should I do with it?
I went to a website that said to either tie it off or plug it. Any suggestions with that and with anything else that might enhance the intake performance? (yes, I know intake doesn't bring much.) |

well that hose you pulled off is prolly for the breather, which there is usually a plug on the intake for it to go into. As for getting more out of your intake, get a bigger throttle body, and try to rig up some type of cool air induction, beit a nose scoop or what have you.

hrmm.
The only plug that was on my intake was for the line that went into....well I dont know that technical term for it....but it went into the main engine.
I capped the inlet on my intake that was for the line and put a filter over the line that was originally supposed to go onto the intake. The vaccuum line, which I may be wrong, in the line that goes through an electrical unit and then into the intake manifold. I removed that whole unit earlier today and then plugged the nipple that was on the intake manifold. Wrong or no? |

well your intake may be different from mine, but the nipple on the intake tube had a hose that attached to the top of my engine.

are we talking about your valve cover vent? if so, you need to cut a hole in you short ram (i thought most of these already had a nipple on them) and attach that vent hose.
Fellow gearheads, correct me if im wrong.... |

hrmm..
That is not the line that I am talking about...and I have heard if you plug that into the intake like you are supposed too, that residue tends to build up and get all gunky. That is why they make breather filters to put over it instead of putting it into your intake.
The line that I am talking about ran directly from the intake manifold to an electrical unit and was attached freely to the side of the stock air box. I read a couple of articles and they both suggested removing that electrical unit and plugging the nipple on the intake manifold that the hose attached too. |
