el guage transformer.

I had a question. I got my el guages working today. They had to send me another transformer. I do not have them installed yet I just hooked it up to a 12v power source and the transformer emits a high frequency squeel. Really really high pitched. When the transformers are mounted in the dash do you hear this?

I don't always drive with music on thats why I was wondering.

mine don't make any noise. make sure they're hooked up right.

yes they are hooked up correctly all the plugs are keyed except for the power (+ and -). So it can't go any other way. I was using a 12v power supply it was putting out 11.9 - 12.1v under tests.

My dad said it's possible it could be normal depending on how the transformer was designed so I'm not sure. It's inclosed in a case. I think I'll just leave it in a really accessable place when I install it incase it should die again and maybe pick up another transformer while I'm at it.
