the brand/type of oil just depends on how much you want to spend. the weight of it depends on if you are leaking or not/.

15W-50 is what I use.

its better to run thick on an SR because of the Adjustable Lifters and Turbo.

Amsoil is good racing oil

Mobil 1 is ok, but its more of a top of the line daily driver non performance car oil........ there are some companies out there such as above that make oils for racing, but they are expensive is the downfall

Royal purple...20/50 I red line the big Jesus out of my car, I need thick oil!
Thicker is better, no break down at top end.

Always use synthetic!

400whp, and running mobile 1 10w30

one of the best oils out there. no need for anything better, mobile 1 will last longer than your engine.

In the comercial for Mobil 1 they say that engines using it showed virtually no wear(which could mean anything, but ill assume it means no wear) after like 250,000 miles or something like that.

Re: what oil is good for the sr20det

I've heard that the 25,000 mile Mobil is so slick that it clears its self off the bearings when it sits for a while.

I use Hydrotex 15W-50 in my motor and I've been told by more than one person it was what kept my bearing from grabbing and Spinning. Supposedly its also who Mobil Outsources to for use in racing. it also helps keep the motor cleaner than others since it has so many detergents in it.

Royal Purple is good shit too!

YOu guys are dumbasses if you believe that 15,000 mile shit.. LOL

mechanics laugh at that stuff.....its for the new generation trendy college kids who can't stand to touch their car yet would rather spend their money playing Golden Tee Golf video games at a bar then get their oil changed....

also no oil will outlast your engine....... you must also realize the behind the scenes look. I've learned from seminars that all those ratings on fluid life and regular maintenance schedules are figured out for a particular driving style that I hardly know of one single person who it fits.... Anyone doing stop and go driving is consider sever use, extended highway driving is severe use, running the engine for only a couple minutes(to goto end of street store e.g.) is severe use.

you would be a dumbass to use a performance motor and drive it hard keeping your oil that long

plus you have this little thing called an OIL FILTER lol
