Thumbs down Does the current Pontiac G6 commercials make sense?

I wrote to Pontiac to see what their marketing department would say in reference to their current commercials that is just a market scheme.
Does any of this make sense? This is what I wrote to them about.

Many people I know liked the Pontiac Grand Am. It was a car that got a lot of good looks from people. Since the G6 came out, your commercials say that it has more power than any of the cars in it’s class, such as the Honda Accord, the Nissan Altima and the Toyota Camry. But why does your commercial that you have out at this time continue to lie about having more power when it doesn’t? The import tuners that like the Honda Accord, Nissan Altima and the Toyota Camry will tell you that your statement about this is false. The 2005 Accord Hybrid gives you a more powerful 3.0-liter V-6 engine that delivers more horsepower – 255 and delivers 232 pounds-feet of torque. This car goes 0 to 60 in 6.7 seconds. In fact, the EX-V6’s powerful 3.0-liter, 240-horsepower VTEC V-6 engine is still under 7 seconds!

Then you have the 2005 Nissan Altima’s 3.5-liter V6 engine that has 250 horsepower and has more lb-ft of torque of 249. A new performance-oriented engine for the Altima is the SE-R that pushes horsepower and torque to 260 and 251. Finally, you have the 2005 Toyota Camry that has a 225-hp, 3.3-liter V6 that is available on the SE model only. This Camry runs 0-60 mph: 7.6 sec. So how can you say that the Pontiac G6 is more powerful and faster than these cars listed?
Many of us that are on the forums for cars know what the specifications are if people are going to buy the G6, at least be honest to potential customers. Last, your commercials for the G6 makes no sense when stating the “the first G6 ever!” Well, if your going to say that, then there was a first Acura TSX a few years ago. There was a “first Saturn ION ever.” There was a first ever when any carmaker came out with a new product.
Of course it’s the ‘first G6 ever” made. No one else is going to make their car labeled “G6”. Honda, Toyota and Nissan are not going to steal the model “G6”, so it is ridiculous to say “the first G6 ever!” Please make commercials that make sense so that we can consider a new car first or there will be others that may write about the same complaints. Thank you.

Re: Does the current Pontiac G6 commercials make sense?

I don't recall seeing the commercial at all, but you should watch the small print at the bottom of the screen. I've seen a lot of commercials that compare one car to others, and they usually pick a slower model to compare to. Like they could be comparing the GTP to the Accord LX. The GTP has 240hp compared to the 160hp of the Accord DX. All car manufacturers do these little tricks, you just have to read the fine print at the bottom to realize how they come up with their "info". And as long as they have the info in the fine print (specifying a specific model/trim), then it's perfectly legal for them to make such claims.

the g6 gtp has 240 horse power with a super charged v6 . I think that it would run with all those cars. But they are probley comparing the g6 gtp with the base model cars. Nothing new. And i think that the new accord v6 hybrid is in a diffrent class. And also i think that it is considered a compact like the camry solara. If that's true, then it's leading its class. Compared to the RSX type S, the solara sle, and the accord coupe v6 5 speed top of liner, the g6 gtp does beat them all. If thats the class ($23k-ish small coupes ) they were talking about. The base model beats all the base models also. So i can see why they say that. If you want to compare toyta camrys and v6 4 door accords the compare them to the Grand Prix. Just my .02

P.S. That "first ever g6" is kind of dumb. I think that they just want to distance it from the grand am

It does have the most hp in its class. For the Price of the G6, you can only afford the Altima 2.5 and the 4 banger accord. Their V6 versions cost way more than the G6, making them in a different class.
