whats this wire for??

WHat is the wire that goes from the valve cover to the frame????? I dont know what it is for and also mine is ripped.People have told me thats its a ground to the engine but i dont know how it works and i wanna find out. anything will help TY!!!

yes it's a ground wire. I've personally seen how grounds can effect engines (even not allowing engines to start), so I'd say replace the wire.

I think there are two grounds going to the engine. One near the driver side headlight and the other near the starter, under the transmission. The engine sits on rubber mounts, so that is the only path for the starter, plugs, etc to get ground (negative side of the battery)
