Hey all, This is my first post and I'm at wits end.
I have a 99 sub 2500 4wd and my front rotors are warped. No big deal, but i took the wheel off, the caliper off, but for the life of me i could not take the rotor off. I even used a puller, no luck. I was told that there is a lock ring on there, is this true? Any help on how i can get this done would be great. Thanks, Gabe Last edited by gabeodog; 06-09-2007 at 03:46 PM. |

Re: 99 suburban rotor question
Anyone please.
I know this sounds like an easy task to do but it's driving me nuts. I mean it's so simple but for some reason I just can't take the front rotors off. Any advice would be a great help. |

Re: 99 suburban rotor question
Welcome to AF, can we assume the caliper brackets are off if the are in the way, also if you live in the rust belt sometimes they are frozen to the hub, penetrating fluid and a slap hammer or large hammer is required. No lock ring here, also try
hitting the outer edge of the rotor then work on it from the back.

Re: 99 suburban rotor question
On my "old body style" Sub K2500 there are 4 bolts that need to come off to get the rotor/hub assembly off. The rotor/hub assy's are one piece. They are located on the inside of the backing plate. "New body style" I'm not sure about..............Steve

Re: 99 suburban rotor question
There does not apear to be any rust on them, I live in the desert in CA.
I did see some bolts in the back that looked like they could be holding them on. I will check to see if that is the case. Thanks for you replys. |

Re: 99 suburban rotor question
I had the same problem on my 99 k2500. After I took the four bolts out I had to beat on the rotor with a small sledge hammer to break it loose.(put a peice of wood on the rotor and smack that) I thought I was doing something wrong when it wouldn't come off with the puller, but it finally came off.

Re: 99 suburban rotor question
Thanks for all the advice. Sad to say I had to bring it into the shop to have it done. Felt like a fool. The mech said they where pressed on. So I just took him for his word.
Once again thanks for the help, believe me there will be more questions. |
