Q: Why do they allow AWD cars in the Sport RWD class?
A: Because AWD does not matter:
![]() All of these cars are at least a second faster than me in the 1/4 mile and have AWD, yet in that first 60' ... See here: ![]() ... and here: ![]() ... and here: ![]() Let the arguing begin

Those pictures were taken at an angle so it looks like you were ahead. |

Re: Q: Why do they allow AWD cars in the Sport RWD class?
lol ... I wish I could beat them.
I can get them at the tree ... I can get them on the launch ... but I am losing the horsepower race. .... next year .... next year ![]() So back to the topic on hand, do you all think it is fair that AWD is in with the SP/RWD class? At the NHRA event at Atco we only had 4 cars and I was the only RWD car |

I think he doesn't want the AWD cars competing in the same class, so he could actually win. Think about it, if he's the only car in the RWD class, he might actually have a chance of winning

Re: Q: Why do they allow AWD cars in the Sport RWD class?
In Japanese drags, MR2s compete in the AWD class. Having the engine over the rear-axles is a lethal combination for launching.

well its becuase jekyle and hyde is running grippier tires. no body in their right mind would want to put too sticky of a tire on a awd or else the tranny is just nothing more then a time bomb. so given equal tires, i would assume the awd would edge out the mr. however the mr is the next deadliest launcher compared to a awd. so it really comes down to the driver.

Re: Q: Why do they allow AWD cars in the Sport RWD class?
carnut is correct, in Japan the MR2 is classed with the AWD cars.
I'm not showing off, I am just trying to stir the pot ... I was feeling bad to day ![]() As for me wanting to win ... I am fine with losing. My wins (drag) will come in time. Right now I am just smiling while I take my lumps. Tat, I assure you the AWD racers are running drag radials as well. Sean Ivey is now even doing AWD burnouts
