I was pleased with the ('94) S10 I had before. It was an LS, 4X4, std cab, long bed, overload springs, no air, power windows or cruise.
The Colorado, also an LS / Z71 with I5, 4X4 is satisfactory. Things I like better: Changing the oil and filter is easier. It is slightly higher off the road - good visibility. It looks better. Pushbutton transfer case controls. Deeper bed. Much better (brighter) headlights. Things I don't like: More engine noise. Thinner sheetmetal |

Re: S-10 AND Colorado owners
Saw a picture of the I5 cylinder head. Looks like a Ferrari head. Scares me to think Chevy assembly lines are making this. Guess we'll see how the long term durability of this engine is. I'm not too sure I'd want to be the one to find out. Pretty darn expensive stuff on this truck. I'll stick with the old S10 for now. Now a 4.8 V8 engine with a five speed manual might get me interested.

I've been out of town for almost a month, so could not reply sooner. I think you will find that the I5 is made in China.

Re: S-10 AND Colorado owners
I had a ZR2 blazer and loved it...needed a 4 door, so I got the crewcab 'Rado. It's much better on gas than the blazer, but overall, I like the blazer better.

Re: Re: S-10 AND Colorado owners
Well, after having the Colorado now for a year. I have to say that the ride is better in the S-10. The S-10 may only have 195 HP vs the claimed 235 of the Colorado it seems to apply it better. The interior fit and finish of the Colorado is superior hands down.
I hate the low ground clearance of the Colorado. I plan to lift it when I have time. The handling of the Colorado seems to be a little bit better, but I don't have as heavy a load in the Colorado as I do in the S-10. Both are adequate small trucks. Personally for a small work truck I think the S-10 was an overall superior design except for the weak rear springs. (I added extra leaves to mine) Bob La Londe http://www.YumaBassMan.com |

I am very pleased with my new colorado. Just did the first old change tonight. That is alot easier. No ramps or anything. I have the ZQ8 sport suspension as well. I'm 100% with Philo.
There seemed to be a few more options that you could get on the s-10 like the deluxe visors, I really miss those, but hands down I would prefer the colorado. |

Re: S-10 AND Colorado owners
98 S10, LS Regular Cab, 6' Bed, 2.2 VS. 2006 Colorado Crew Cab, 3.5
I like the Colorado, a major upgrade...however, I'm not sure the Colorado is much larger in terms that the bed is nearly the same width as the S10, mine has the Z71 package....that gives a good look...I like the Colorado..... |

Re: S-10 AND Colorado owners
Seeing quite a few of them around here now. And seldom see one for sale in want ads or on car lots. People must be pretty satisfied with them as this is a pretty good indicator.

UPDATE:
I liked the colorado, but due to a nice pay increase, I'm now the new owner of a fullsize 07 z-71.

Re: S-10 AND Colorado owners
I had an isuzu hombre (s-10) in disquise
that poor POS could hardly move itself out its own way 2.2L of course the I-4 has really impressed me in that aspect but it really is a POS to work on and have really idiotic problems I have seen several die out , or not start concerns with the problem stemming from cam phasers ,cam phaser acctuaters, or passlock sensors which are a part of the lock cylinder housing. Many of them have rough start up condition, and from ifo gathered from our feild engineer (nature of the beast) best describes it. The most recent for me is one theat misfires on all 4 cylinders after the vehicle has been running for about tweenty minutes have not dug far into it yet but am suspecting possible cat issue. |

Re: S-10 AND Colorado owners
being that i drive an S-10, and work on colorados a bit, i say that i prefer my S-10. but the rado is not the worst in the world. For the record, i have only seen one of the I-5's be replaced.

Re: S-10 AND Colorado owners
4 Cyl to 4 Cyl : Colorado is a huge improvement. Great improvement in horse power and much less road/engine noise.

Re: S-10 AND Colorado owners
I hope the Colorado/Canyon turns out to be a success for GM. I've driven both the 5 cyl and the 4 cyl versions. Performance IMHO wasn't up to the 4.3L Vortec V-6 w/ 5-spd standard. Good fuel mileage, too. That was a great powertrain for GM - adequate muscle, relatively simple, it just works, millions on the road every day. If I could find a new full-size Silverado or Sierra with the same powertrain + nicer inside than the "Work Truck" I'd buy it.

Time to put an end to this poll. In the future please limit the timeframe on any poll to no more than 90 days to prevent thread resurrection everytime someone discovers the thread and votes in it.
