HELP! I know nothing about cars!

Hey great little forum you all have here. I recently got a 92 Cavalier (in perfect condition). I like the body and was thinking about some body kit/rim stuff.

First, if I get rims that're like 15 or 16 inch (as opposed to my 14's), will it help me avoid the crazy potholes in my area? Basically, bigger rims/tires will raise my car further off the ground right? What else would need to be changed in my car to accomodate larger rims?

Would 16 inch tires (all season kind) cost ALOT more than the regular 14 or 15's?

In general, is it super-expensive to reupholster my seats? I'm talking front and back, regular upholstery just a different color

Anybody ever use body kits from Razzi? I just want to know if they're quality is good or any warnings about them

No to the rim answer the bigger the rim the smaller the rubber. Sometimes the car may even appear lower. It will not race ur car. Go to Tirerack.com and look for rims and tires for your car cost around 700+ for 4 rims n tires

Your screwed on potholes, regardless. Learn to avoid them, that's the solution.

16" tires cost more that 15" which cost more that 14". It's a fact of life. The price difference should, with cheaper tires, only be in the $20-$30 dollar range between sizes.

It certainly isn't cheap to reupholster, trust me on that one.

And, finally, I don't think I've ever heard terribly bad things about Razzi. Don't bother buying a body kit unless its urethane, though. If you got potholes, you'll wind up regretting a fiberglass kit.

should go with the 16's but its not going to raise your car unles you wanna try something thats similar to a truck rubber but really you should just be avoiding pot holes..you wanna buy bigger tires to what..not bump as much but wether you get bigger tires or not you keep hitting those holes your gonna have to follow up those tires with a new suspension system aswell..for seats i would simply buy 2 new sport seats for the front and buy a cloth for the back bench, body kit wise..buy what style you like best..regardless of brand name...if your going to buy a kit to spice up the exterior but still keep pretty much the same ground clearance then you could get the fiberglass and save yourself some money..if your going to lower your car...get the poly style...but for body kit style...i would go with the vader..looks pretty decent.

Your worried about your car being too low to the ground... and you want to body kit it?

first off a bigger rim won't raise ur car. if u go real big(like 17 or 18)then it may by a fraction of an inch. I have a 94 (same body style) and i HATE.....and i repeat HHHAAATTTEEEE the Razzi kits. the only i found that's any decent looking is the one i have on my car from xtreme dimensions. the vader kit.
note to everyone else, there are NO eurothane kits available to purchase for 2nd gen, unless u have one custom made which is, so far I've found, damn near impossible..

btw...the car will look lower once u put the kit on it, but u do have to worry about how many potholes, railroad track crossings, and driveways you come into contact with on a regular basis, cuz the kit will make ur car more likely to drag

First off, I would recommend going bigger on the rims. I've got 17's on mine (2001) and its lowered and I have never had any problems. If you get bigger rims, you will have less rubber. The tires on my rims are .1 bigger in diameter than my stock rims so you can come close. If you post your tire size I can help you find a size for a bigger rim that would be really close to the same size as your stock tires. Reupholtering isnt cheap. Check out www.jcwsportcompact.com. You can find two different sets, one cloth and one leather. In both you get the front and back seats as well as the cloth part of your door panel. The cloth set is $500 and the leather in $700. I would have to agree with going with a urethane body kit. If you drag with a fiber glass body kit, you are looking at a big expensive mess. My friend hit a pothole in his Tiburon and it really screwed up his front bumper. Just learn to avoid potholes. One of my other friends hit one hard in his 04 Civic and it took a big chunk out of the sidewall.
