Power Steering Fluid Capacity
Does anyone know what the capacity of the Power Steering system is?
My owner's manual just says to fill it to the line (Not much help there) which I thought was odd since they provide a volume for all of the other fluids. My hayns does not mention it either. I wanted the changed my fluid and since I was alone I decided to try it a different way than what I think is the norm. I sucked out all of the fluid in the resevoir and then refilled and ran the engine a bit while turning the wheels. I did this about 8 times, enough to have 2 litres of "old" fluid. I then filled it back up. I just wonder approximately how much I changed (Percentage wise) |

Re: Power Steering Fluid Capacity
Per the shop manual, the capacity is 1 litre.

Re: Power Steering Fluid Capacity
That sounds low but I suppose the shop manual knows

Re: Power Steering Fluid Capacity
I put a magnefine filter in the return line...that goes into the resevoir.

Maybe it's just me, but I have a hard time seeing where the fluid is in the little cut-out on the reservoir....! Perhaps the plastic has clouded up over time, but I have to estimate where the fill line is by peering inside the reservoir....

Re: Power Steering Fluid Capacity
It is not just you. I cleaned mine and tried shining a bright light and I still have a hard time seeing the level.

Re: Power Steering Fluid Capacity
My '96 has a dipstick built into the cap.
