Question Will My EXT Tow a Car Trailer?

Forgive me for not knowing much about this. I have a 2004 EXT with a 6-cylinder. I know it comes prepped with a tow hitch receiver and electrical plug, and I've read the posts about connecting the Prodigy to the wires under the dash.

I'm wondering about this sway control system. If I find I don't have it, can it be added? I want to tow a small flatbed trailer with a car on it. I don't know what the tounge weight will be yet because I haven't bought the trailer yet.

Anyone with experience on this?

MODEL: MAX. TRAILER WEIGHT: AXLE RATIO: GCWR (LBS)

EXT 2WD 5800 LBS. 3.42 11,000
7200 LBS. 3.73 12,500

EXT 4WD 5700 LBS 3.42 11,000
7000 LBS. 3.73 12,500

Note: Trailer tougue weight should be 10 to 15 percent of total loaded trailer weight (up to 750 lbs. ) Addition of trailer tougue weight cannot cause vehicle weights to exceed Rear Gross Weight Rating (RGAWR) or Gross Vehicle Ratin (GVWR). These ratings can be found on the certification label located on the drivers door frame.

Well, that's what my book says & it is from 2003.....so there shouldn't be much if any differences with your 2004.

Hope this helps :- )

Well today was the first day of towing with mine. A 3500+ LBS trailer & about 1000lbs of extra crap in it & it handled it well. A little jiggly at times when you hit some big bumps, but nothing bad at all.
Still pulled it like I had nothing back there at highway speeds.
Around town you could feel it back there, but it still pulled it very well.
