S-10, won't go in gear

truck will not go in gear after starting engine. Bleeded the slave cylinder, still won't go in gear. how do you check the master cylinder and the slave cylinder to see if it is by-passing fluid. no leak under tranny or on floor board.

My 97 did that last year. No warning at all. It was my slave and master cylinder leaking. so there wasnt enough pressure. You probably wont have any fluids leaking for a couple days but then it will start leaking all over. I personally dont know much about trannys so i took it 2 aamco. well good luck

will it go into ANY gear, or just not first?. also, when running can you hear the clutch stop spinning when you depress the pedal, and hear it start spinning when you release the pedal? if you hear nothing at all like this, then chances are there is a clog in the line, or one of the two cylinders are bad, if not both. if it has fluid, and it's not leaking, then it has to be moving it somewhere, or not moving at all.. might also wanna check the line from master to slave to see if it got kinked somehow. hope this helps.

won't go in any grear. I don't know if clutch is spinning. lines are stright and in good shape. when bleeding the slave unit it flows all down my arm. I blead the unit like you bleed your brakes. some one told me you are supposed to open the bleeder valve, and just let fluid flow out. close the valve when flowing good. ???? don't sound right.

hopefully doing this while keeping a good eye on the master to keep fluid in it. make sure u have someone helping, and make sure they have the pedal ALL the way to the floor when u open the screw. you could have air in the line still. would try doign it again....and keep going until u are sure there is no more air in the lines.

I had this same problem. I replaced master cylinder & slave but didn't help. Finally pulled tranmission to replace clutch and found that the clutch fork, where it pivots, was almost wore in through. This wasn't allowing enough throw to fully ingage the clutch. Replaced clutch and fork and drives better than the day I bought it.

Simply bleeding it will temporarily fix your problem. If air got in there somehow, something else is obviously wrong.

bought a new slave unit, beld the shit, and fluid, out of it. got some gears, enough to get it to a shop. tell you what happens in the furture

shop said the clutch is out. S-10 belongs to the neighbor when he gets it fixed, i'll tell you how much it costs him.

willing to bet somewhere between $400 and $700 USD.

last report. cost 500+ to fix, they also fixed the exhaust leak. replaced clutch and all the goodies, ect. runs and shifts real good, smooth and easy.
