Passenger side front window
I noticed this week while driving that my front passenger side window was lowering on it's own and I couldn't raise it with the window button (neither driver side or passenger side buttons). I could pull the window up by hand but it wouldn't stay up. I went out to the truck this morning and it was down about 2 inches. I decide to take the door panel off to see if it was off track. Well, from what I can see it is not off track anywhere. Can anyone tell me what the problem might be and would you be able to walk a novice through the repair? I have never done any work on the windows before and there doesn't seem to be a whole bunch of room to work (as far as getting your hands in there). I appreciate any help you can give me.
Thanks, Al |

Re: Passenger side front window
Sounds like a bad regulator. Try Rockauto.com and search for part #741648.

Re: Passenger side front window
This has been covered before, but old threads are hard to find on this forum.
Anyway, the window regulator is not the old scissors-type, but instead it's a continuous cable driven by an electric motor. There's a plastic piece at the bottom that the cable slides across. This plastic piece breaks and the window is no longer controlled nor even supported. It lets you pull the window up by hand, but also lets the window 'sag' down if left alone. Yeah, as jpb says, you need the whole new asssembly. Not hard to replace. Good luck.
