Question full carbon body

As probably everyone has seen in the motorsport section there is a killer fully carbon bodied imprezza. my question is do you have to paint the entire body with primer and then a base coat of what ever the colour, if you are going to cover the whole thing in carbon fibre decal. or can it just be put on top of the plastic?

You should use Semi-Gloss black base coat

Re: full carbon body

Well the thing is, if a very small piece of CF (one square mm for instance) doesn't cover the body, and the body hasn't got more or less the same color, it's very easy to see. That's why you should spray black behind the usual CF. And of course it makes the CF decals look a little bit darker. Behind the yellow black decals you should use something like dark brown I think. Not sure.

Decals don't stick very well to plastic, and like Bas Carwash said, you need a paint color that will hide any mistakes. I also prefer gloss to semi-gloss, because it is easier to reposition the decal on the surface, but that's just personal preference.

Water slide decals also work much better on a gloss surfacce, they don't stick well to flat and semi gloss surfaces.
