difference between NT and Turbo Cams, and Pistons
ok I have 2 questions. 1) Can I just take some turbo cams from a stock GST so I can run a little boost on my NT car until I get done rebuilding my other engine? 2) whats the difference compression wise for the NT and Turbo pistons? Thanks in advance

Re: difference between NT and Turbo Cams, and Pistons
The intake cams are the same for the turbo and NA versions but the exhaust cam is different. I belive the turbo has a slighly more aggressive exhaust cam. The NA has high compression pistons while the turbo has low compression pistons to save room for all that air flow the turbo brings in. The compression for a 4g63na is 9.2:1 and the 4g63t is 7.8:1. Hopefully that answers you question.
Beats the sh*t outta me why i have to do you research but im bored.

Re: difference between NT and Turbo Cams, and Pistons
well ill prolly leave these pistons in and just change the cams for now(both) and just boost 10 psi or so

Re: difference between NT and Turbo Cams, and Pistons
IMO You shouldn't run more than 6psi on a 14b turbo (stock 1g) installed on a NA motor, you might be able to run little bit more boost on a T-25 (stock 2g) since it's smaller. With a 9.2:1 compression you don't have room for much air flow from the turbo inside the combustion chamber. It's allways better to be safe then sorry.
Also, have you considered looking for a used 4g63t motor, this may be cheaper (not allways) and be much less hastle. I mean, there's just so many things that could go wrong turboing a NA motor. If you do decide to turbo the NA, it's very wise to re-build the motor while at the same time installing your lower compression pistons. There's lot more to it then just pistons & cam's, for one an oil cooler and the rad is different for the turbo. Anyways do a search, there's plently of info on what to expect, and what you need to turbo a NA.

Re: difference between NT and Turbo Cams, and Pistons
welli have another engine sitting im my garage that im rebuilding. vavles, spring, retainers, pistons, rings, fuel pump, ECU, injectors, port and polished head, .40 over bore. that all comes after i just bolt on my turbo on my NT i have to get the ECU right now and injectors and cams then all the needs for turbo. it will cost me about a grand to turbo my NT with a 14b.
