Exclamation Turn signal lever replacement

It seems like I managed to tear off my turn signal lever in an accident. without it i am without turn signal or windshield wipers ( i am able to jimmy the signals, buts it no fix)

The 94 cherokee comes without an airbag nor cruise control. I currently have the steering wheel and lockplate removed. i have managed to loosen the plastic assembly that fits around that cam (in which the steerin wheel turns) and can not quite figure out how to get to that turn signal assembly. It seems like my key cylinder is in the way, but the manual i have does not say how to remove it. I have also removed the nuts and bolts that hold up the colomn so there is plenty of play.

My main problem is removin that plastic coverin of the colomn. I feel once I can remove that, i can replace the parts that need replacin.

I was also thinkin abou buyin a new steerin colomn if it came to it.

Thanks and GIG 'EM

Re: Turn signal lever replacement

So you have the lock plate removed? Does the 94 have the GM style column? If so, you should now see the switch assembly. Three screws hold that to the column and one more holds a little piece that connects to the lever. Once you get that out, you'll need to pull the housing to get the rest of the lever out. The lock and tumbler will need to come out to do that. With the key in, there is a small lock pin that you push from behind the lock plate. If it is a tilt column, you have the added chore of removing the pivot pins and the rack assembly and spring. Pulling the pins requires a special tool.
