Re: lumina 97 miss fire
If the light isn't coming on, but the code is still in the PCM's memory, AZ will need to clear the history DTCs
The high RPM stopping is designed to prevent the engine from over-revving when there is no load (such as park/neutral). Its perfectly normal. |

Try an injector service at Jiffy-Lube or your service guy, which may fix the problem, but more than likely, it is your #6 injector that needs to be replaced. If you do a serch on this forum, you will get alot of info on the subject of injector replacement(problems) on Lumina's. It's not a cheap repair if you cannot do it yourself. Good luck

missfire problem
Just so you know, I have the same problem with one at work. I am hopeing someone out here will have had the same problem, but skeptic. I have a 99 Lumina (same engien and parts as 97) that is defiantaly not fireing on #6. the plug is good, the wire is good, the injector has been swaped around to dee if problem followed, and the O2 sensor was checked, and I did a cylinder pressure test. All checked out great. I have even gone so far as to swap EGR valves out with another sedan. Same thing, missfire #6 while watching with the scan tool. Does anyone have a solution?

Go back to Autozone and get some Injector Cleaner. If you own a GM car, you should praise injector cleaner. Lucas injector cleaner or Seaform are the top 2. Run a can through the system, then do another can immediately on next tank. If this does not solve problem, then look into a fuel system cleaning.
