BEWARE...3.0 Diesel Air-Filter
When you take your car in for servicing, check to see if the air-filter
has been changed!Recently i had my car serviced at a Bmw dealer and decided to inspect what I paid for...and yes I paid for an air-filter!!! To my astonishment,at opening the airbox(with some difficulty!),the air filter was full of dirt and hadnt been changed.Took the car back to the dealer demanded a new airfilter and money back for the labour cost of "not fitting it".Got the air-filter and with the help of a mecanic we set about changing the dirty one on the car.Bloody nightmare!!!!!!!So little space to work, have to dismantle so many things to get access to the cover,so many alen screws that are inacessible.the filter/cover have to come off and installed jointly and before you can align all the screws in, you have to have several attempts and then the top cover very difficult to align. My mecanic friend has now got the hang of it and fits it first time! Why didnt Bmw dealer fit it?Well,in my experience its probably one of the worst filters to change and some dealers dont bother, because the customer has great difficulty in accessing it to confirm if ifs been changed. If you have any problems, feel free to e-mail me. |
