need some help on my 99 cherokee
I have a 99 grand cherokee 4x4 6cyl. 4.0. What it's doing is that for awhile usually when it is cold the first gear will kick in around 1 or a little more than that.just normal. but 2nd gear is the one that seems to go till like three or more then it will kick with a jerk.Only 2nd gear the rest of them kick in fine. I don't know what yall think or if yall ever heard of something like this. The day before yesterday i replaced the speed sensor and i think it helped it out a little. Also, the part time light of the 4x4 stays on at all times on the gauge. It has been like that for awhile i'm thinking that has someting to do with it. A mechanic told me that the transmission oil is fine and he suggested for me to replace the 2 sensors that are in the transmission pan or some where around there. He said that, that is the most common thing that messes up on a jeep like mine.
I forget also when the truck cools down it doesn't start when i turn the ignition forward, like if it wants to but doesn't. So, I wait for 5 seconds then I try it again and the it will start on the 2nd try. (I was also told that it is the fuel pump.) I would also appreciate if i could recieve some feed back I would really appreaciate if i could get some feed back, ASAP. Thank You |

The problem that your having when the Jeep wont start could be your Fuel Pump. You need to check the fuel pressure with a guage. The Trans problems you are having might solve the problem if you change the sensors. If you have access to a Scan Tool see if there are any codes from the Trans and it wouldnt hurt to change the fluid and filter. Make sure you use ATF #3 or #4.

Re: any other ideas about my jeep problems

Thanks for your feedback, but a mechanic told me that the oil is fine and also he put the computer on my jeep for the transmission and told me that it wasn't marking anything electrical and then he put the computer on the motor and nothing came out either. Maybe you have other suggestions and what do you think about the part time light for the 4x4 staying on at all times. thanks |
