I recently posted that I was experiencing a problem with my transmission on my 95-3.1. When I was at cruising speeds up to 65-70 or approching a slight grade, I experienced a "chuggle" or thumping like hesitation that felt like it was coming from the transmission. After checking vacuum lines , TCC wiring connections and reading and re-reading threads on the Torque Convertor Solenoid ,etc, I finally got the opportunity to change my fuel filter. Lo and behold, no more chuggle! the old filter (car has 103K miles) was clogged completely, I tried to blow throw it but could not..( could blow through new one easily) my Lumina was starving for fuel! I wonder how it ever ran but it did. Idled fine, accelerated good, just had the "chuggle' when at speed and needed more fuel...hmmm..Occam's Razor once again.

Re: Problem with 95-3.1 "transmission" solved!
Now free of restriction, your fuel pump will self-destruct. Occam's razor has nothing on Murphy's law.
