2000 Quest Back Hatch and Nissan Service Problems

I have a 2000 Quest. At about 20k miles the back hatch started making a loud popping noise sometimes when pulling into a driveway. I have had the van into the service department 11 times for the hatch problem over the past 3-4 years and 40k miles. Each time they try to adjust the hatch stops or replace them and the problem just comes back in a month or two. Is anyone having the same problem? Does anyone have a suggestion on how to get Nissan to fix the problem. Nissan won't talk to me and the dealer said I should trade it in and buy a new one from them! If I can't get the problem fixed I don't think I want to buy a Nissan vehicle again or deal with the dealer again.
