Ok, my friend has a 1993 civic Lx (?) with a D15b7 motor. I already replaced the Spark plug wires and the battery (cuz it needed it). But the thing will turn over but no spark. Im considering replacing the coil, but i want to get some feedback on what else would cause it not to spark. I actually pulled the plug and checked for spark, none :P. Any Help would be much aprecciated. Oh, btw, i checked for codes but none came up.

Snowman,
You may have a bad ignitor (balck thing just inside the distributor cap, about the size of 2 slatines and held on by 2 screws). There was a recall for these in the early 90's, though I think Honda had the problem taken care of by '93. Still, it's a possibility. Steve |

Re: 1993 civic wont start
Crazy it's more then likely the ignition module in the distributor cap. When it goes out you wont get any spark to the plugs.. It's easy to replace and runs about $75 I replaced mine a few months back. I had the same problem as your friend so it's a pretty good chance thats it.

Yea, i found out the ignition control module was bad. I took the coil and the icm to autozone and had them tested. Coil was good, icm was bad. car started up after that, but has a loapy idle, more than likely unrelated. Thanks.
