passenger door handle open slightly??

I experienced two separate Luminas with the passenger front door getting stuck locked. It happened intermittently on mine, and I just thought it was the freezin cold winter air here in Michigan. The lock would almost, but not quite open- either electric or manually. I finally realized that the outside door handle was just barely lifted up. When I pushed it down all the way, the lock worked fine. Also, when I was fixing a freinds Lumina, I noticed the same problem on the same door. It was more obvious the handle was lifted on this one. I pushed the handle all the way down in place- and presto! I mentioned this to the owner when returning the car and they laughed and said that door had been stuck like that for at least six months.

Even if your handle isn't up, maybe the linkage inside the door is not returning all the way to release the lock . Kinda hard to check with the door stuck shut though! Good Luck.
