90 Honda Civic Intermitten No start
I have a 1990 Honda Civic 3 dr Hatchback 1.5 16v 4 speed. When it sits out in the warm sun, won't start. I'm trying to find the fuel pump relay. Not sure if it is the one right above the hood release, the one I see, looks different from the parts store pic. Can anyone help? Any wiring diagrams? Please e-mail me at [email protected]

Re: Re: 90 Honda Civic Intermitten No start
I replaced the relay that has 4 terminals, this relay is attached right above the hood release lever. The car did the no start thing, 10 minutes after I replaced it. Drove the car 5 minutes, turned it off for maybe 5 minutes, wouldn't start back up, cranked and cranked and cranked. Let it sit for maybe 5 minutes and opened the hood, waited a few minutes, cranked it over, it started right up I keep hearing about a 7 pin relay that is mounted on the side kick panel, a few inches above where the hood release is. Are there 2 relays in that area? What is the four terminal relay? When I unplug the four terminal relay (the one I just replaced) the motor won't turn over. Any ideas??

Re: 90 Honda Civic Intermitten No start
You replaced the STARTER relay (the one right above the hood release)...
The MAIN RELAY is located further hidden all the way to the side of the dash. It's a bit tough to get to, but if you remove your change tray, it makes it a little easier. Also, I have read about people not putting the main relay back in it's stock position for convenience and it works fine. BTW, we would post diagrams but the online manual has been down...

Re: Re: 90 Honda Civic Intermitten No start
Found it!! Apparently this car had been in a flood at one time, so there is alot of dirt under the dash, and all over the relay, which I could not see, until I wiped off the dirt, and there it was!!! On my way to get a new one. Thank you all for the info!!!! I mostly work on VW's but like the Honda's too, just don't know as much on them. I have a 1980 Accord, I've had for 15 years, just sitting and waiting for a motor rebuild. Alot easier to work on!!!!!
