Car Won't Start

Hi,

I have a 1994 Grand Am, the other day I had gone out and as I was starting it I heard it like clink as it was turning over, well...it started drove it around for awhile, didn't move car for 2 days and now it won't start just turns...Could it be the timing chain or timing on it? Engine is 2.4L quad...and where is the fuel filter? Could this also be the problem?

My husband knows a little bit about cars but is stumped as well as I am...hah probably because i know jack about cars lol

Thanks for your help!

Re: Car Won't Start

It could be timing related but I doubt it. If the car is turning over it may very well be a fuel issue. The fuel filter is located under the car in front of the fuel tank. If it has never been changed that would be a good place to start. If it is cranking over but not getting fuel due to a clogged fuel filter it will never start. But There could be other issues involved, You may have bad plugs or coil packs, unfortunatly things like this are a bit harder fo figure out over the internet.

I would first replace the fuel filter it;s not very expensive to change but if doing the change your self it can be messy and you may need a special tool to release the filter form the fuel line. (can't remember the exact setup on the 94.

I hope this helps...

Here Grand Am mama - not sure if this will be the same exact on your '94, but it should help out. It's a how-to changing of the fuel filter. Good luck.
