Price question

I'm currently looking at a black 2001 Dodge Neon R/T with 108k miles on it. It has leather interior and the interior and exterior is in good shape. Upon taking the car to our mechanic however, he said that the oil pan was leaking, the rear sway bar would need to be replaced and the tie rods were shot. He priced repairs at 1,800 to 2,000 is this right, or are we getting a raw deal on the repairs? The car is for sale for 4500

careful with that car dude...your talking about an RT if this guy is selling it and hes telling you that the oil pan is leaking and sway bars and tie rods need to be replaced...then you might want to consider that this car might have been drivin pretty roughly...cuz think about it..if someone gave you a lets say a meclaren f1 you would prolly giver shit every chance you got...its no maclaren but take in mind that when ppl get something like an RT or SRT4 thats branded as the performance car version ppl tend to test the limits of their cars...not saying this guy bagged this car...but ive got a 2001 cavalier at the moment (switching over to a sx2.0 right away ) and this car has 120,000 kilometers on it and it doesnt need ANY of those...just think about that man

Yeah, thanks for the advice. I thought about it and my Eclipse was at only 103k when it's engine blew (too much oil on my part) but it hadn't had problems like that. I called the mechanic today who looked at it, turns out my dad simplified what the guy had said. The mechanic said the right inner tie rod needed to be replaced, left lower ball joint, left rear control arms, it was 6,000 miles overdue for an oil change, hadn't been tuned up for at least 25,000 miles, the serpentine and timing belts needed to be replaced, and the water pump needed to be replaced, plus the oil pan was cracked. Thanks for the info. My search continues I guess..
