The truth hurts

alright, i live with a girl who is extremely over weight. i mean, very overweight, like rosanne. all she does is sit in the rec room and eat and watch tv. i don't care about that though, she can do what she wants.

anyway today her mum sent her a package with some new clothes in it. she went and tried them on, i went to my room to listen to a bit of Bob Dylan. so while i am calming reading and listening to my music, she bursts into my room in the new track suit she got. it's one of them shitty velvour or wateva ones. the furry ones. it is bottle green and the fucking ugliest thing i have ever seen, i don't know fashion but this thing was haggard. She proceeds to look at herself in my mirror. i continue reading my book. Then she asks, 'Ally-Kate does this tracksuit make me look fat?'. I look up and consider. I reply 'no the fact that your fat makes you look fat, the tracksuit is just ugly'. I go back to reading my book. a second later she throws a lint brush at my head. it hit, it hurt. and she storms off crying. I sit there wondering wtf i had done.

How was i in the wrong? ok maybe i could have put it in better words, but the fact is she is fat. she knows she's fat, she knows i know she's fat. why ask me a question that she already knows the answer to? was she expecting some bullshit compliment that wasn't warranted? would it have been ok if i was fat and said that? as someone who isn't am i not allowed to be honest about her weight? was what i said that bad? i have never made a comment on her weight before. i honestly don't care.

anyway she told on me. now i have a cut on my cheek, and am banned from friday movie night. So if honesty is the best policy, why then am i being punished for being honest? Why does the truth hurt... (me especially)

Re: The truth hurts

Fat is fat, spade is spade. You shouldn't be punished because you were truthful, even if bluntly so.

"Side's, she asked for your opinion, you didn't offer it. "IF you don't want to hear the answer, don't ask the question".

Re: The truth hurts

Keep telling the truth. on the "don't ask if you don't want to know". Of course she was looking for a complement, and kudos for saying the truth rather than something PC or complementary.

-edit- of course from now on, refusing to respond might be a better option. That, or wearing a helmet.

Damn, that's rude, but funny as hell. Truth is always better in the long run. Maybe if you keep telling her she's fat and she needs to get up off her lazy ass and go excercise it'll give her the motivation. I say good job.

HAHA! That is priceless right there. I dont think you did anything wrong by telling her she is fat, now picking better words might have made it go over a little better, but then it wouldnt have been quite as funny. Just next time you see her say look, I was just being honest, your fat, you know you are. And anyone can see that the suit is one of the most horrid things ever placed on this earth, so why did you throw a brush at me? Then drop kick her in her velour track suit.

I'm diplomatic about it. I would have said "no", which is the correct answer - the fact that it's a size 48 makes you look fat. I just think that bit and chuckle to myself quietly in the corner though.

Re: The truth hurts

Well it depends on how it was viewed.
Was it blatant truth?
Was it criticizing truth? or was it constructive truth?

Re: The truth hurts

I guess it was the way you told her that made her mad... which was funny, but maybe if you told her you're concerned for her health and try to get her to realize how unhealthy her lifestyle is, then she will change. Probably not, but it's a better way to go about it that will show you care about her.

Why not just keep feeding her junk then scare her one day? Heart attacks are a natural occurance.

She told on you, big deal.
Return the favor and put a "little" cut on her cheek.
What's Friday movie night? If it's spending time with her fat ass doesn't sound like you're missing much.

Woo scary, missing friday movie night. Get in your car and go cruise around looking for other chicks who if you tell them they're fat they wont get mad and go throw up.
