help takeing apart the dash

Hey, im planning on putting a system into my car in the next few weeks and i can not figure out how the hell to get the head unit out. ive had someone do it before but do u really have to take the whole dash apart just to get to the head unit? i have a 88' cutlass ciera. if u have a similar car ull nkow what im talking about... i need to get the black piece of the dash off that goes aorund the instrument pannel and the head unit, but i dont want to have to take the whole dash apart ( the whole part where the A/C vents and controlls are, and the plactic piece aorund the steering collum, and the plastic piece between the center concel and the dash) does anyone know of a better way to get to the head unit???????? or do i have to get them to take it off for me again?

You have to take the cover with the air vents off before you can take off the trim piece around the instrument panel. It's pretty simple though to do, theres a screw behind the far left vent and right vent though that you don't won't to forget or you'll break stuff trying to pull it off. Theirs two screws above the ashtray and one or two beneath the molding around the steering column and that's it, not hard at all.
