New Power Steering Pump groans and foams
Just installed new power steering pump. Bled it out per instructions. It groans and is full of foam. Acts like it still has air trapped in lines. No sign of leaks.

Re: New Power Steering Pump groans and foams
Unplug the wiring to the coil. Jack up front end, crank engine over while you turn steering lock to lock for about 30 seconds. Do this 3 or 4 times. Turn steering all the way to right and turn ignition to lock. All the bubbles should come out.

Re: New Power Steering Pump groans and foams
Just a note to add.... You may need to stop and wait for the bubbles to raise out of the fluid....as in wait until the foam works out of the fluid....and then continue as instructed.... Otherwise....you will be recirculating the air back into the steering rack.

Re: New Power Steering Pump groans and foams
I've installed two on a 95 3.8. Groaning PS pump is typical, much louder than normal for the first few trips. I work in a new one with a few complete turns of the wheels on the lift, followed by about 10 figure 8 turns on my dead end street. (er, cul du sac) As log as it ain't screeching, it should sound better in a week.

All of the input is most appreciated! I will try your suggestions. This thing is driving me nuts. One question though, Autozone had me use Dexron III for power steering fluid, is this correct?
