Smile Bonehead new guy question!

I know a guy that is selling a 1974 260 Z and he wants $1100.00 I am not clear if it is worth it or not. I know that the 260 are not the most desirable of the Z cars, but its cool! The thing starts right up, but I would have to replace the clutch right away! I am looking to turn this into a good looking Autocross car. Gutted out on the inside, roll cage, racing seats, and no interior. From what I can see the driverside rear quarter panel was reskined, but the rest of the body seems to be really straight! If you are willing to help and would like to see a pic let me know, I am looking for all the help I can get!

well do you have the picture uploaded onto the internet? if not, you can upload them under the "gallery" section at the top left of the screen... then just copy paste the url at the bottom of the picture once you get it posted

yeah but you have to remember, cars depreciate over time but after you get to a certain point where the car becomes rare and more of a collectors item, the car starts to rise right back up in value. i say a 260Z in good condition and still running is well worth $1000. a 260Z isnt quite a 240Z but it is still a collectors item. and it will gradually start to raise in value as years go on. a good conditioned 240Z that still runs is gonna run you atleast a few grand and probably more. i have seen a fully restored 240Z sell for $18k to an obvious enthusiast. my

Re: Bonehead new guy question!

He told me that he is tired of paying insurance on 4 cars, and that is why he is selling. His friend told me that his wife is sick of looking at it and that she is making him sell it. So I am going to offer him $500 and hope that he is willing to take no more then $750.

Talking Hummmmm

Ok here is how it went... I called the guy on my my way home from work. I told him that I read all over the web, and from what I could see the 260Z would not likely become a classic car. I also reminded him that I would have to replace the clutch before I could do much more then put it into my garage! So he asked me what I was willing to pay for it, and I told him that I felt $700 was a fair price. He responded with...I am sorry I wasted your time! We said our goodbyes, and hung up! Just a little while later his wife called back, and tells me that they really need the money and offers the car at $850. Well needless to say I will help them out and pay the $150 more then I want to! YEA I will now own the 2 cars I wanted in high school.
Thanks for the help!

Needless to say you'll help them out, yea right, thief. j/k
you did good, and it's great when you get something you wanted in high school.
It would be hard for me to do that. I haven't seen many covered wagons on eBay.
