Fan stopped & outside temerature reading screwy

1.) Temperature readings in overhead console are screwed up: reads 39 deg on an 85 deg day, jumps to 43 to 92 and back down. This should be an easy one: replace outside temperature sensor (I guess).
2.) Wife told me while driving with the AC on with the blower setting at 3 or 4, the fan/blower totally stopped, was off for about a minute, came back on and did it again a little later. Of course when I drove it, it didn't do it. Any suggestions?
Van is a 98 model with 95K miles.

The sensor is just a thermister can can be checked with a bowl of cold and warm water and a multimeter. The sensor is located in front of the radiator to the left as you look head on the van (or at least that is where mine is).

Bad connection, bad switch, or failing motor.
