Hi, first time posting here, have a potential problem with keys. To make a long story short, I have a 96 SC2 and I have a friend with a 95 saturn. after talking to her one day, i was jokin around with her and told her i was going to try to get in the trunk of her car. I slid my car key into her trunk, and surprisingly it opened it. after that I tried her door locks, they opened also without any trouble. After that happened, she walked to my car and proceeded to open my trunk, doors, as well as start my car. I emailed saturn and asked them about this problem and asked what i could do to fix this.... They basically told me that that is a freak occurrance and seemed not to believe me, and also gave me no possible option to remedy this situation... I dont really like the thought of at least one, maybe more, person being able to access my car and drive it. (it has been kind of handy though... my friend and I have both locked our keys in our cars since the discovery and have gotten them out without having to call pop-a-lock.) any suggestions as to if I should be worried about this, am i overreacting as it could just be a freak happeneing? thanks for any help,

It is a freak occurance, I don't know the numbers (I think like 225 different keys) but there are several of your same key out there, as well as with all cars... Or house locks for that matter,
They make so many of them that it is almost impossible for it not to happen Do me a favor and compare the two keys next to each other, are they pinned the same? (have the same notches and grooves), if so, then it is an extremly rare occurance, and I wouldn't worry to much about it, try with another friend that has a saturn, it shouldn't work... Sounds like you and that girl are about meant for eachother (dont know your gender, but still)Seems rare that you would meet, be friends, have the same make of car, and then suprisingly and the rarest of all these coincidences have the same key for that make...

Re: Keys open 2 cars...
saturn's keys are known for their crappyness, but i don't want to get into that, you know the problem. in mid-year 97 saturn redesigned their keys. the second design is more secure. you can swap the second design in for the first.
