idle drops consistantly

when idling it pulses even when you push the accelerator and hold it steady.it also falls on its face when i floor it down the road. checked for air leaks, it has a brand new fuel pump and filter, the engine has been rebuilt when it was hooked up to a dealers scanner everything read normal. when it was rebuilt it was bored to the max which i believe is 60 over it also has oversized injectors which i believe are either 22 or 24's. everything else is brand new. dont think it is the pcm because wouldnt that have showed on the scanner. i am thinking i might need a cheater box. so what do ya think i am at a loss. thanx

With idle problems, first check the ECTS, do a search in this forum, you'll come up with a couple dozen posts,
in short, a new one is about $15 bucks from SaturnParts.com
Make sure you are getting a brass tipped one, with a two wire connector

Then if the problem persists I'd take aim at your performance upgrades,

bogs down when you floor it...
larger injectors are probably your problem
heres a post
You're probably not getting enough air for the amount of Gas you're dumping in there, buy intake

Re: idle drops consistantly

larger injectiors are rarely needed on saturns, a 4-gas or 5-gas machine should be able to tell you your A/F ratio.

"when idling it pulses even when you push the accelerator and hold it steady"

at what RPM? what speed?

you may also have a weak cylinder, check plugs and compression.

when did this problem start? before or after the rebuild? why did you rebuild?

it happens at any rpm i hold it at. the dealership scanner says that everything is runnung well. i think it might be the oversized intectors it was set up for nos but then i decided against it cant afford the tickets. does anyone know how much a larger intake would cost? thanx guys.

i rebuilt cause the old engine had alot of problems so the friend i bought the car from had rebuilt another engine that he was going to put in it before he sold it to me. so with the rebuilt engine and trans is when the pulsing happened about a couple weeks after i started driving it. first the temp gauge was running kind of hot but then that worked itself out and that is when the pulsing started.

You can choose an intake to your liking on e-bay for about $40 with shipping included (~$20 intake + ~$20 ship.) mine is supposed to arrive today,
Here's an example
Intake

I don't see any great deals, that one is $45, Re-check e-bay in a few days, Just search Saturn SC2 intake, and look for your year,

BTW, if you buy off e-bay, it'll cost you about $135, give or take...

Re: idle drops consistantly

even with a larger intake those injectors will still dump in to much fuel. i would swap them out

I agree might not fix the problem, but will probably show significant improvement, if you have the stock ones I'd toss 'em in there, injectors are a pretty easy swap (less than an hour)...
Yeah, you've posted a couple of times recently that larger injectors are not needed,
But he set it up for NOS in which case he might have to have more fuel to avoid too lean a mixture resulting in detonation...

yeah i was set up for nice nos system but i think i will probably go with one of those quick shot deals. also another symptom my car has while idling is the exhaust sucks in every once in awhile so now i think probably the valves are the problem. jeeeez. unfortunately i do not have the old injectors to switch and see if that is problem but i dont believe so cuz i had it hooked to a scanner and it read normal nothing out of sorts with fuel pressure or anything else it switched between rich and lean pretty consistantly like it is supposed to. so now i am leaning towards the valves. i am getting a new intake like the one you recommended. thanx guys

I have the problem that my exhaust sounds like it sucks in every now and then, when I let off the gas in gear... but I think that that is just because of my giant muffler/turbulance...

Just got and installed my intake today, in fact you posted while I was installing it, just barely fit, I didn't think that it would at first... heres a pic
