To lift or not to lift?

afew days ago i went out a bought myself my first 2000 chevy blazer LT. I bought it with 43k miles and it has all the bells and whistes. anyway, im thinking about putting a lift/larger tires on it. any opinions or stories or sizes i should shoot for would be great. another side note is what way should i go for exhust to get that nice loud sound? is a 1 chamber flowmaster to much?

Re: To lift or not to lift?

You will absolutely kiil your fuel economy by putting tires on it and lifting it. If you are not going to be off roading regularly with it, I suggest you leave it stock.

You can't believe how bad these trucks can be on fuel especially in the city stop and go.

For the muffler, check out my cardomain page in my sig.

I'm not an expert on this, so you might take this as a stupid question..
but with larger tires, doesn't that mean a farther distance will be travelled with the same amount of rotation as he had with stock tires....=better fuel economy??

Faster and louder than stock, but nonetheless a blazer!

Re: To lift or not to lift?

Nope, means more drag due to more surface contact on the road.

Also has you truck sit higher which will add to wind drag.

on a long highway trip yes, im talking over 200 miles, otherwise no, city it will kill it, bigger tires do= farther distence, but as with any sprocket type system, the farther from the center the outermost edge is, the more power it will take to get them moving the same size as a smaller one.

Re: To lift or not to lift?

I did a body and spension lift and changed my tires to a 31" tall all terian and with the speed/odometer being off 6% , I increased my mileage . Engine rpm is lower for the same speed . So I disagree with some of these post . If you want to accelerate agressively all the time it will go down but it your are easy on the gas like I am , you should improve as I did .
