Anyone painted their Wiper arms?

My wiper arms on my 89 REX are silver with hints of black still on them. I'd like to repaint them black. Has anyone done this? Do you have any tips?

Re: Anyone painted their Wiper arms?

yupcan you get to a sandblaster anywhere, cause if you can it's a really easy job. but if not get all the old paint off sand on it a little w. some 300 grit or higher sand paper once all paint is removed. Make sure it's good and clean, clean w/ laquer thinner, it dries quickly w/ no residue. And if you want to spray paint them, put a good coat of primer on there and then i suggest using the engine paint cause the heat of the sun will not fade the color as bad over time. It'll look better longer, or just take em to a paint shop and let them mix a little paint w/ all the additives like hardner and let them clear them and they will really last, just depends on how much you want to spend but i don't think that a paint shop would charge too much to paint them.

I actually did mine... Didnt sand or anything, course mine were just faded a bit... I just took them out back, and hit them up with some krylon... That was about a yr ago, and they still look good... Hit my door trim up too (it was turning white from the yrs) and it still looks great...

clean with denatured alcohal, laquer thinner does leave a residue behind, denatured alcohal is hot enough not to leave a film behind

Re: Anyone painted their Wiper arms?

Thanks folks! My wife picked me up some Model paint today. I'll sand them and paint them black and hit them with a coat of clear.
