90 Cherokee wiper blades

Simple problem but looking for an inexpensive fix. My wiper blades won't return to the lowest point on the arc after I turn the wipers off. I have to manually get out and push them down the last 2" of space.

Is there a cheap method to fix this or is there an adjustment that I am missing?

Thanks

The linkage to the wiper arms could be bent out of shape. Have you had it in any heavy snow lately while using them? Also your wiper motor could be tired out and going bad on you.

The linkage has a bunch of pivot points and the bushings might be worn out.Its common on older xjs

Sounds like you have failing motor/wiper assembly. If you live near more than one Jeep/Chrysler dealer, shop around for prices. I replaced my assembly myself a couple years ago on my '92 after the assembly linkage came apart, and the part cost me about $200, but I've since found a cheaper source for genuine parts. Not a hard replacement if that's what you have to do.

I have the same problem in my '88. It's annoying because when they park in the improper place, its almost right in eyesight with the road. Anyways, I was considering a scrap yard to find a used one. Wouldn't the ones from the 97-01's work on the 88-96? Just curious.
