Question 2001 Grand Am GT, I have a simple Q

Hello,
I have changed my car's oil a couple times now but I do not have the owners manual. My question is this, I need to reset my cars timer so that the "Change Oil" light will go away. It has been lit on my dash for months now. I know there is a red button on the fuse panel that says Oil reset or something and when i push it the change oil light blinks but doesn't shut of. I've tried holding down the button for different lengths of time and the light won't go off. So, can somebody please tell me how to make the 'change oil' light go away? I really appreciate your help. Again, it is a 2001 grand am gt. Thanks.

have you solved your problem yet? my manual for my 2000 gt says to press and hold the oil reset button down until you hear the car ding, ding.....and then you release the button and press it again to reset the oil life. I'm pretty sure it's ACC that you want your key to while doing this.

Yeah, you don't have to dance on the brakes or the gas, you just put the ignition on (don't start the car), then hold the button (reset button) until you hear the system make a "ding" noise then push it once more and you're done.

Thank you very much for the help. I finally was able to get that light off the dash. Put the key in the on position and held the button.....worked like a charm. Thanks again!
