Cool Being Rare is a good thing

I bought my car 2 years ago. I was the only 3000GT VR4 in town. A month after I got it a local cop stoped me and ask me what my car was... sadly i told him and a week later he gets a base model 3000GT... grrrrr. Well then another 2 or three months I pulled into sonic and guess what I see... i kid showing off his new 95 3000GT SL, so I showed him what was up. but still now there is 3... then a girl from school came and told me she was geting a car like mine... i tried to talk her out of it but noooooo she got a 98 red 3000GT BASE Model... grrrr now there is 4... then later on I see yet another black 3000Gt in town, so I asked around and they said he just got it, AHHHHHH, Its a 3000GT VR4 but the good thing it that one day i was examineing it and it white smokes like the vaticans relection of the pope . But still now there is like 6. Then one of my freinds went and got a 99 3000GT BASE Model, this is geting bad... well now haveing to deal with 7 3000GTs in town is dumb well today guess what I see, A NEW PEARL WHITE 98 3000GT BASE MODEL.
I'm mad from idiots who can't be unique and copy me... and beleive me they did because every who got one told me thats why. well the only good thing is I'm the only first gen... so yes I'm still unique in a way and I honestly think the first gens look way better and more sportier. Plus I have the bad ass 3000GT in town :P the fastest and best looking.
So what im going to do now is hurry up and get my spyder AH HAHAHA I'd like to see them try and copy me then :P,

Re: Being Rare is a good thing

my hometown (i go there on the weekends) is a town of 6500 people. When I started coming in town with my car, it was the best (it still is awesome, but the first couple times are classic). Driving by people, they would literally drop their jaw. I had one teenager girl drop her jaw and start running closer to my car as I drove by.

A few months ago, a red 3kgt vr4 1st gen popped up, so it wasn't as special, since someone else has my car. but about 3 weeks ago I heard he crashed into something and his car is totalled. So now I'm the only one in town again.

I live in Iowa City, Iowa, and there are maybe 5-10 3/s in the area, but not many are vr4. I know of 2 people (from talking to them on 3si) that have vr4's, but the rest are SL or base model.

It's the exact reason why I hate mustangs to much. Too many people own the damn thing. Why in the world would you want a car that EVERYONE else has.

Re: Re: Being Rare is a good thing

The cars are rare enough but when you make a hybrid one like I have it confuses people more. Went to the track yesterday with a few 3si friends as we all had the cars shined up nice and ready to roll. As soon as we pull in me and my friend Jay with a lowered green first gen VR4 get mobbed by people checking the cars out. Questions were flying and I did what I could to answer. I opened the hood to help cooling and walked away for a while. I guess Jay was standing there when some kids were checking the car out and one of them mentioned how nice my MUSTANG looked.

WTF? This is the 3rd or 4th time someone thought my car was a Mustang. Oh well, its kinda flattering getting all kinds of questions about the car and the compliments feel good too.

BTW, I think I managed the slowest time in the history of the 3/s. Got a decent launch, powershifted to second and boom, I loose all power. Car is sputtering down the track, gassing it wont even make it rev. My intake pipe fell apart at the MAS elbow joint. I managed to run a 43.849 @ 14.84mph.

haha, good thing it wasn't anything serious. I'm sure anyone who has blown off their y-pipe can relate.

Your 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT VR-4 is the 92nd out of the 315 that were made that year. Only 21 of which are exactly identical.

Re: Being Rare is a good thing

I know exactly what you mean with the overgrown popularity of the stealth/3000 GT, right after you get yours. Before I had mine, there was one in town. 1992 Stealth RT Automatic. Then I get my stealth, White 1991 Stealth RT Manual, Then about 2 weeks later if that, There is this girl who got a Purple.. 1991 Dodge Stealth ES Manual, Which she blew her clutch in 3 days.. I dont know how she did it but she did. Well thats 3 stealth's in town.. Then next I see a 1994 Base Model Black 3000 GT (Auto, I think). He goes to my towns high school, and I asked one of my friends to ask him about it, Daddy bought it for him. Then, Here's a 1994 Dodge Stealth TT Black, Saw this about 3 months later. I think there is like 6-7 In my town now since I gotten my stealth 1 1/2 yrs ago.

haha, yah. That was the first run. The second run, I managed to keep my intake on and still run crappy, but anyway I am going down the access road and I see my buddy in the VR4 pull off. First thing that came to mind is oh crap he broke something. I pull off to help him.

He was beyond pissed, had no clue what had happened, lifted the hood to see the y pipe blew off. He ran like 22 seconds on that run. So we all were having issues.

There was a drug dealer everyone called "Fatman" in our town who owned a burgandy VR-4. He got arrested. Then another drug dealer owned a 97 SL. He got arrested. Then I bought my 93 SL and I was the only one arround. Within a year, there is now a 93 stealth, a 94 white SL, another 95 White SL w/ some exhaust pipes, a 1st gen SL, and someone who lives 2 miles from me went ahead and bought the exact same car as me, a 93 red SL. Also less then a mile from me someone else is building a house and I keep seeing a 98 red SL there. It is pissing me off too. I am not friends w/ anyone who owns them but now I see them all over. I am going to have to get a VR-4 and do the 99 conversion. That will definitely distinguish me.

Re: Being Rare is a good thing

Same story for me. I got my red 98 SL, had it for about a year then I start seeing a black base/SL, i was alright with that. then i start seeing a grey 1st gen base/SL and then a dark green base/SL (don't know what they actually are since they're all debadged except mine). I know they're not vr-4s, there is also a r/t stealth with a nice fire paint job dealio on it looks pretty sweet. But ill soon have the whole uniqueness back when i do my TT conversion which should be fun
