1984 turbo Z help needed badly!!!

ok, the started on my friends car died like 6 months ago. got it replaced jus like 6 weeks ago cuz it was a toy car and when he got it back it was running rough. next day go out to start it and it wont start up. check all wires and everything to make sure its all hooked up and everything was but one plug by the starter so we plug it back in. we messed with it for 3 days and couldnt get it to start after replacing coil, dist. cap, and dist. button. took my friend to ATL airport for him to fly to dallas to see family and go test to see if there was power comin from the coil pack and their was (we thought that was problem at first) and there was so i turn the key and it starts right up. runs fine for me for a few days, picked him up from airport and then went riding in the z with him when got back in town and it was running fine. turn it off that night and go out the next morning and it wont start. usually every other day we can get it started, drives perfect like its brand new. go out the next day after it has sat and it wont start. does anyone have any idea to y the car is doing this? between the 2 of us we have run the bad gas out of it, had thoes parts we put on it the other day, new plugs, wires, fuel pump is working jus fine, few fuel filter. it has to be something electrical that is messed up, any ideas?

yea it turns over jus fine, it jus wont fire up. we have looked at a diagram of the wires and most of them we can not follow w/o ripping out the dash. we added 2 xtra grounds while we had it up and running cuz we thought maybe that was the problem, but doesnt seem to be. its turning over and gettin plenty of fuel, power is coming out of the coil. was thinkin it had something to do with the cap, but its brand new and would make no sense as to why it wouldnt be sending spark.

Re: 1984 turbo Z help needed badly!!!

do you jiggle anywires when it does start???
what about fuel??
does it flood itslef when its turnedoff ???
my buddies rx7 used to do that
you just pull the fuel pump relay turn it over for about 8 seconds three times
replace the fuel relay and turn it over and works like a charm
just trying to come up with ideas to get you thinking
also do you jiggle any wires before it start??
or do you go out and turn the key and it starts?
do you jiggle 3 sets of wires and try and start it and it does or somedays it jst starts and others it doesnt>?

Re: 1984 turbo Z help needed badly!!!

its nothing witht he fuel system cuz we thought the pump was dead at first. the only wires we really tinker with are: the wire goin from the coilpack to the dist cap, usually test all of the spark plug wires and stuff like that. i swear its only when my friend tries to start it first that it jus dies cuz if me or anyone else does it, it fires right up and runs all day....... oh its not flooding itself either!

eh ment to add too, yea it will start and run perfect some days and then when ya go out to start it the next morning it wont fire up. its turning over and everything as strong as it can, but jus wont fire up and run. when we can get it started and are trying sometimes it will start up and sputter till bout 6-700 rpm and then jus die out.
