Well this should really be down to you. It's a low miler sothat's good. If it's Gt it'll have the 2.4 twin cam if not it'll have the 2.2 OHV. If you drive the car and like everything about it and you like the price then there is your answer. Your car is an expression of you, not what a bunch of strangers on a car forum think!

Re: hello all :)

haha ..Ok I'm soo happy! happy! I now almost own a 1999 Sunfire After reading mixed reviews on e-pinions I dunno know.Am I buying a lemon? I took it out for a ride and it ran great.Oil looks clean and full, transmission fluid looks reddish, clean and full, tires look great, the paint has metallic flecks in it makin it look awesome. The cars been garaged so its in excellent condition. He was asking 4,999 dropped it to 3,999 and for me he dropped it to 3,700 cuz i made him laugh hahaha. He hated to have to sell it so low but his old lady neighbor who owned the car was told by her doctor she cant drive anymore(medical reasons) so he sold the car for her. The car had just got there on the lot last week.I'm soo glad I was the first to see it.

Re: hello all :)

not a bad little motor at all. You will never know if a car is a lemon until you have it for quite a while. But your neighbour had it so you can at least find out everything about it and you also know it has a genuine reason for sale! I can't see why not to get it you arte obviously in love with it. You will get mixed opinions about any car as it is impossible to please 100% of the people 100% of the time. Welcome to the j-owners club.

On my cavalier I am running on 96k miles. 1999 5 speed. And I am just now starting to mod it. I am confident to get another 100k out of it.

not the 98;its the one on my sig. i drive the car everyday and still run at the track on weekends (in season). i changed the waterpump, and i changed the timing chain;i didnt have to change the chain but it already had 200,000 on it then. ive put about 4-sets of wheel bearings(hub assemblys) on it. thats due to always running aftermarket/heavier wheels though(i think).hell,up untill about 200,000 miles,it still had the same clutch, axles, and struts on it.!!! i only changed them cause i was adding more power from basic bolt-ons,and hammering the clutch at the track. i have a fresh(almost finished) 2.4 & getrag built for it in the garage waiting for spring.(somewhere around 250 h.p.)....as for the 97,not too many major problems other than the number 3 spark plug blowing out of it every 3000 miles!?!

Okay, sorry I'm so slow at gettin back here, now I know why it was garaged, it seems the lady had a problem gettin an inspection sticka. The car had no high beams and no running lights, here in Massachussetts, high beams are mandatory, sooo to make a long story short, after an attempt to fix it myself, I brought it back to the guy I bought it from. His mechanic had it for the whole afternoon (we waited with it and had pizzas with the boss) He went thru the wiring and found 2 bad spots and the ground to the headlights had to be redone. He fixed those up and Wa~La I now have high beams....but with no running lights which I dont really care about. I think the lady just didnt wanna pay the money to have the wiring fixed so she just decided to sell. She didnt tell anyone about it and none of us bothered to check to see if the high beams worked.Oh well, I got my car fixed freee and pizzza to boot! Other than that the car is running great!
