Post Wheels for Subaru WRX

I have a 2002 Subaru WRX with the stock rims. I am looking to upgrade to OZ Superleggeras but have a few questions. First, I know that the WRX recommends 52mm offset, but the Superleggeras have 49mm offset in 17in. and 51mm in 18in. How will this lower offset affect my performance? Also, would the 18in. be better since it's closer to 52mm? Finally, what differences in performance could I expect between the 17in. and 18in. rims? Also, any tire recommendations? Thanks!

The offset variance will not adversely affect your cars performance but DO NOT go any lower than 48mm because it will cause other problems like tire rubbing. The 17 or 18 question is a personal preference issue the 18's will offer better steering response and overall performance while the 17's will be a little softer riding. For tires take a look at the thread "tires ... which are best" in this forum
