What to do?
Hey guys, i'm new to these forums(if you haven't guessed
). I drive a 1995 WRX hatchback and i was thinking of modifying the rex, I don't know what i would probably do, maybe do something like the APS RT spec kit (boost to around 240kw). But the problem here is that my baby has done 180 000km's, still in mint condition and i haven't had a problem with it yet, is it worth modifying with that many Kms on the dial, will the engine be able to handle? ( being 7 years old). I was thinking of selling her and grabbing a 99-00 model (before the ugly change ) and then getting the kit then? I probably know what your answers will be, but i was just curious because my rex hasen't given me any problems, all i have done to her is the 3" stainless steel exhuast from the turbo back, blow-off valve. Feedback would be much appreciated .

If you are the first owner of the car then you can easily judge if the 180000k is really such a big deal (decent servicing? driving pattern? etc...)
However before you begin, it would be adviseable to check whether your engine has solid lifters (they are much much more reliable). I think they only appear in MY96 onwards but don't take my word for it. Also subaru engines tend to stretch it's conrod bolts if revved too hard regularly (above 6000rpm) So I guess only you have the answer to your question... |
