Re: This place is really quiet lately......

OK, here's a topic.....I am debating pinstripes on my EBP RSX.....can't decide, and I keep changing them. Currently, one side has a 1/4" and a 1/8" Tomato Red stripe, side by side, along the lower character line on the body side only. I ended it about 4" into the front fender, where the fender bulge begins. (I want to put JDM side markers there some day.....) On the other side, I have 1/8" Tomato Red and 1/8" Metallic Silver stripes, same arrangement as the first side. I used tape and 1/8" is the narrowest I could find.

Now you guys are going to ask for pics (if you're interested at all) and I can't seem to upload more than about 1/10 or 1/100 of the bytes needed. Should they stay or should they go? I ordered some red decals to fill in the black A on the wheel center pieces, and I was thinking about painting the chrome front and rear As red as well.

The winters are long up here in Michigan.......

Re: This place is really quiet lately......

I think I would like the silver a little better. It seems like it would be a little more subtle than the red. The only thing I would be worried about with the metalic color is that some stupid people get enchanted by bright shiney things and may walk right into your car.

Re: This place is really quiet lately......

LOL....walk into the car....good one! Yes, the silver is too damn shiny, but that's all they had in that shade. Not many choices, and I don't really want to pay for paint - and have it permanent, although it always looks better with real paint.

I do really like the silver. I tried it with black, but black is invisible on EBP.

Now I see if I put JDM side markers on it, there won't be any room for stripes on the fenders, and there is already a huge jump across the door handles.....hmm......still winter up here

Re: This place is really quiet lately......

Personally I think silver and another shade of blue would look good.

Re: This place is really quiet lately......

Hmm....yeah....somebody said yellow and black!! I don't think so......The silver looks good, but pinstripes never look right with only one stripe.....well, it's too damn cold to do anything about it right now!! Plus I won the JDM side markers on ebay - now I gotta drill holes in my fenders - Yikes!! And I will have to shorten the stripes.......they look kinda goofy on a character line that doesn't extend the entire length of the car, so they may just come off. Thanks for your input.

Re: This place is really quiet lately......

Now you got me skeered.......I figure I just need to have a Guinness or two before I get started, have the right tools - i.e. some kind of drill and some kind of sheet metal scissors - and a lot of primer and paint. Just gotta keep the hole as small as necessary.............

Hmm.....how am I going to find the right location?!

Re: This place is really quiet lately......

To find the right location heres what I would do, drink a 6 pack of guinness, 3 shots of jack, and a jagerbomb. Then I would just find a picture of them on a car, approximate where it should be, put a piece of tape about the size of the side marker on one side of the car, stand back make sure it looks ok, then measure from the edges of the fender where it is.

Or you could make a cardboard cut out and go that route.

Dont be nervous about it, if youve been doing pinstripes then im sure you have a good enough eye to be able to do this.

Don't be nervous, he says. Those stripes are tape, my friend!! We're talking cutting sheet metal here, on an exposed surface!! I would look pretty bad driving down the street with big gaping holes in my fenders, side marker lights rattling in the breeze!!

JK - somewhere on clubrsx is a tutorial for the install. Just need some sharp sheet metal snips. With small ends for tight turns. As long as the outer surface of the marker light is much bigger than the hole, I should be able to manage.

BTW, I keep looking at other cars with pinstripes (painted) and they are prob. less than half the width of the stripes I am using. Either need a pro, or somehow find (or cut) narrower stripes.
