4x4 air bag suspension

hey.. ive been doing some research and have been getting mixed reviews on equipping my 99 infiniti qx4 4x4 with air bag suspension.. im not a hardcore offroader but i still use the 4x4 during the wet days here in FL.. there is not much i can do to my q on the exterior and with the added weight of all my stereo equipment i really need a new, stronger suspension setup.. id love a lower stance so this is why the bags have been stuck in my mind.. ive been told that the transfer case sits too low to install the bags but after examining the undercarriage i do now see how this could be.. have any of you bagged your 4x4? is it worth it? if not.. what are some heavy duty shocks and struts that woill support my added weight and give me a lower stance. thanks in advance

Since the struts are modular and have the springs incorporated, you could just replace the springs. I'm sure someone makes springs for that vehicle. If they don't, you could research it and find out your current spring's rate (they can be measured) and height and pick springs that will give you the optimum drop. Companies like AFCO racing make springs in about four different diameters in hundreds of rates and heights.

The key to not getting your car to bottom out is selecting a spring rate that is a little shorter and a little stiffer. If your original suspension travel was 5"-10" and you just switch to shorter springs of the same rate, your travel is now 3"-8". Not good. Shorter and stiffer will make it something like 5"-8"

Your ride quality will suffer but if you want it done right, that's what sometimes happens.
