Transmission Pan Plug
2001 Blazer Trailblazer Options
56000 miles. Has anyone put a drain plug in their transmission pan? I want to get all the fluid changed plus new filter, then I want to change fluid myself each year (about 15,000). Where in pan did you put plug and what plug did you buy? Thanks |

Re: Transmission Pan Plug
I have installed them in many vehicles and highly recommend doing so. You'll thank yourself the next time you drain it, even if you still want to drop the pan. You can get them at some auto parts stores or at places like Summit Racing. Not hard to find. The only rule on placement is somewhere on the bottom that won't interfere with the trans and valve body components. Just look close once you have the pan off, the best spot will have a lot of open space above it. Make sure to clean all drill shavings out of the pan. (Duh!)

Re: Transmission Pan Plug
Installing a drain plug does make it less messy when dropping the pan to change the filter. However dropping the pan doesn't get all the fluid out.

Re: Transmission Pan Plug
And throw a good magnet at the bottom of the pan when you get it off.
