Short Shifter
I am looking to buy a short throw shifter and I was wondering what kind to buy. I also heard that they can screw up your tranny is that true.

B&M all the way! Thats what I'm gonna get when I have some money lol. Don't really know bout any problems they cause though.

yea they can bend the shift forks. the reason is that since they shorten the shift if you pull it too far then it bends the shift forks. they also sometimes have more flex then stock so they arent as accurate. do a search for short shifter and 95GSX_Racer he has said a couple times about why he wont ever get a short shifter

in my brothers H22 Prelude (non rice) he just cut the damn piece of metal and put a shift knob on that. it was funny watching him do it with a hack saw took him forever. is there any way to put resistors in though so you dont go to far.

My friend has a B&M short shifter in his Mazda protege 5 and he said it's great.

I have some ebay unit and it's been on there for about 2yrs now. I also recomend getting the machV shift metal bushings that repalce them damn rubber ones. That will make all the diff. I have never heard of a short shifter messing up anything, If any thing it makes your shifts more dead on. But deff go to mach V and get them bushings there not much $ and they work weather you have a short shifter or not.

I actually installed a B&M shifter and Symborksi metal bushings from MachV a while ago, so far, so good. I have heard horror stories about getting cheaper shifters, and how some simply snap sooner or later. B&M has had consistenyl good reviews for their shifters, I would recommend only them.
