Which one is worse?
Well, Riverside is super dusty and hot so when my car is parked, it's in direct sunlight so the sun is like baking the dust straight into my paintjob. Furthermore, it's totally killing my interior. I do have the option of parking it under a tree but then the sap will be falling on my car. So which one is worse? Sun with baked dust or tree sap? Under a tree would be helpful for my interior too but I don't know how much damage the sap would do to it. Oh yeah, I wash my car once a week so that would help....so which one would be better?

Re: Which one is worse?
Buy a car cover. It'll help both problems; interior and exterior

Re: Which one is worse?
I would stick with the sun damage. Make sure you wax the car frequently. Sap is really hard on your paint and you will still probably have the car out in the sun often. I would get the car cover too.

Re: Which one is worse?
I guess let it bake in the sun and buy one of those windshield covers to protect the interior, and tint your windows. Aren't there any other trees to park under?

Re: Which one is worse?
I park my car under the huge hemlock that overhangs my driveway, the sap from it somtimes drips down but its easy to get off. What kind of tree is it? I say under the tree with a cover if its for a long time.

Re: Which one is worse?
I had sap on my old car that ate right through the paint within a matter of days. It was like concrete. I could not get it off. BTW it was from a pine tree.

Re: Which one is worse?
Yea pine are just about the worst, my mom agrees (landscape architect). Hemlock are pretty good as far as conifferous tree's go, the sap comes off with a wash on mine, spruce and things like that are in between pine and hemlock. We have a red pine hanging over the very end of our driveway, never park there lol, it does hardern very fast and is a bitch to get off of ANYTHING... they sell stuff for it thoguh.

Re: Which one is worse?
It eats through the paint so quickly. They don't sell stuff for that. Other than touch up paint.

Re: Which one is worse?
Not that I've had much experince with sap on paint but I've never heard of it actually eating away paint, its not very volitile stuff. I could see it taking some paint off with it easy enough though lol.

Re: Which one is worse?
No, it ate all the way through to the body. I didn't even touch it. I went to clean it off and there was a hole where the paint was. Pine tar is pretty nasty stuff.

Here's another question....to keep the interior a bit cooler (not by a lot of course), I could crack open the windows a bit. However, it's so damn dusty that dust will totally get inside the car. So what would you guys do? Crack window to help the interior since it's a bit cooler and get it dusty? Or keep the dust out?

Re: Which one is worse?
Keep dust out...if it's really hot, just take it up to triple digits with the windows open...cools it down pretty quick
