GTP Daytona 500 Edition Value

Hi,

I have a 2000 GP GTP Daytona 500 model and I want to do all of these cosmetic mods like painting the engine cover, carbon fiber interior, etc. Unfortunately the car is not mine but my dads, although I am the primary driver. When I told him about doing these things he basically told me that it would "bring down the value of the car because its a special edition model," which I think is a false assumption. Could someone please tell me if his assupmtions are correct, or if the value depretiation is the same as a normal GTP.

Thanks in advance!

Chris

All depends on who you would sell it to.

If you were to try and sell it to someone more your age and more into the hot rodding of the cars they would take it with a slightly increased value than projected from KBB.

Someone like your dad (and even mine unfortunately) believs in leaving everything 100% stock which I can't totally blame, causes less complications later on and is one less thing to have to deal with replacing down the road (like special ordering from the net).

My dad has a 87 Fiero GT with 5 speed. I have tried to talk him into putting in a 3.8 SC or just even a 3.8, even a 3100 to compromise for the old 2.8, but like he always tells me "it makes it more special to leave it all stock." My response, "its even more special when hot rodded!" Oh well his car he can do what he wants I suppose!

Re: GTP Daytona 500 Edition Value

I had a 93 grand prix 3.1 engine. gold pinstriping, gold wheels, wing ect. it was perfact from the begining, it lookt better almost stock. i only added magnaflow exost and 8mm wires. Sometimes stock will look better the all aftermarket stuff. Look at Honda's, they have a damn wing 5 feet off the trunk, they think its cool, i think it makes the car look like sh**. But i am not a big fan of Honda either.
