jetta 2000 trunk light switch

The trunk light works occiasonally. I have narrowed down my problem(i think) to a switch under the truck cover. The trunk light itself and fuses are fine. Has anyone replaced this switch which seems to be controlled buy the trunck latch motor? Looks easy to remove. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: jetta 2000 trunk light switch

It seems to be a fairly common problem (the switch). I don't beleive you can get it seperate from the latch itself.

Question Re: jetta 2000 trunk and other issues

I have 2000 jetta VR6, no mechanic here on Guam and need help! My trunk will not open, by either remote, driver door switch or key in trunk... It sounds like the motor is working but will not click open?
Also, my rearview mirror has moisture in it making it foggy and creating a bubble,(probably due to heat here)? I have been told my brake lights do not work all the time and have ordered the EPC switch. Any suggestions please help. Thanks
